I met Mah on a warm and sunny Spring day. I was walking around Como lake during my lunch break, which is a common place I go to unwind and get some exercise during the workday. As I rounded a corner I spotted a young twenty-something girl with headphones and purple/black spandex running pants. The first thing I noticed was that it looked like she was holding her phone up in the air, in what I thought was a selfie pose or maybe she was just looking at her phone using it as a mirror in prep for her run.
I approached her with restrained excitement as I was really hoping she would be open to me taking her picture for my project. I mean who wants to get shot down on the first try, right? As I approached I said hello and introduced myself. She said her name was Mah. I had jumbled my introduction of my project a bit as she was my first for this project but I was finally able to explain what I was doing. She graciously said yes to a portrait. As I was preparing for the picture, I noticed that Mah had great features and a bright smile. She explained that she was a nursing student, but that she was also interested in modeling. I told her she had a very unique look and that she would do well with modeling, but that nursing is also a great profession and is highly sought after and that she couldn’t go wrong with either. We concluded the session fairly quickly, and it was a success. Thanks Mah!
